date night

Last night Jake and I had a date night at one of our original spots, Basi. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Basi is owned and operated by a husband and wife team and is nestled in the alley of Victorian Village in a small house with a gorgeous and quaint back patio. Inside, you will find about a total of 10 tables, nestled so close together, you feel like you're sharing experiences and stories with complete strangers (so save your intimate convos for another place, k?)

We were pleased with our choice of Pinot Noir and these bread stick thingies that were warm and packed FULL of sweet and spicy flavor. We seriously could not get enough. Not pictured is our appetizer which was so different and fantastic, zucchini pronto with sliced almonds and peccorino (one of my favorite kinds of cheese...heaven.)
Jake ordered the grilled natural pork tendorloin with mostarda di cremona & spice crusted sweet potato. It melted in my mouth.
I had the eggplant parmesan with fresh mozzerella, basil and tomato sauce (they don't serve it with spaghetti which is nice on your already full belly).  After dinner was over and we were sipping wine and looking into each other's eyes, holding hands across the table (kidding) we were agreeing that none of the dishes needed salt & pepper because all of the natural flavors (and there were so many) made it so good in the first place. We commenced the evening out with after-dinner drinks at The Rossi, another cozy and swanky stop.
Oh, and I love this guy.
